  Yeah? Now picture this - you walk into a post office...
  Pan stains: Some by the post men and some by the postmaster - they believe in leaving a mark at their workplace!
  Encryption: The Postal Secret Services are extremely difficult to decipher unless you know what you want in their language and know who can give it to you. Else, just walk over to any counter stand in queue for some time and then you will realize that you are standing in the wrong queue.
  Selective sales: Ask them for common things that the common man requires and they'll give you that nasty look as if you came from Mars.

  Yes Postal department has chenged its look and way of service. think a department is providing service for last hundred years and it now cater the needs of the nations every citizen , common man to corporate citizen.
  
  I urge to my countrymen to use postal and other valu added service from the post office and enjoy the good work. It is easy to comment and sarcasm but very much painful to change a big system like Indian Post. Now you can feel the differnce in the postal department and its attitude if you will use its services and products.

  Actually the government of India has neglected this particular valuable services which is still serving the poorest of the poor. The reason is once again it is servicing to the common man. There is no proper place, basic facilities available to the staff working over there. Where as the government of India is pumping crores of rupees on modernizing the Airports eventhough year-over-year it is making billions of losses. You want to know why, because it is being used by the high-fy mini crowd which has got ample money. If the Indian Postal service, if you feel is in a very pathetic condition then the government has to be blamed for it. Hope the government wakes up and ramp up to make this wonderfull innovative communicable service of the poor peoples into a profit making institute.

  India Post has got great potential. Its vast network and reach coupled with the service and welfare motive are the biggest assets. The change that is coming in the qualtative aspects of the postal services over the years is worth noticing. The Govt should empower the Post in a more comprehensive way to take new technology related services to the rural areas where no other Govt or private agency can reach the way Indiapost can.

  this is a much neglected area when it comes to management studies .happy to see tht some focus has been shifted to this area,but nothing has been said abt how the postal department handles it. how does HR work in this area. wht are the current HR practices in the postal dept.

  Indiapost has embarked upon an ambitious project called' Yerrow' which aims to bring about total change in the physical and human infrastructure of the selected Post offices in14 States to begin with. The problem is Post offices are not generally frequented by people other than peons and servants etc. There is lot of visible change now in the Deptt.
